Chapter 2075: Chapter 2076: Power Furnace

Perhaps because of Shava’s identity, or perhaps because the Gentle Boiling Man has always been modifying alone, he is eager to share his results with others.

So along the way, even without Angel asking, the Gentle Boiling Man proactively explained the general outline of these magical creature modifications.

The core of the creature modification mastered by the Gentle Boiling Man is the power furnace.

On the black-and-white maid, the power furnace manifests as the heart; on this Bone Leopard, the power furnace is the glowing metal ball within its abdominal skeleton.

Initially, the power furnace appeared to Angel a bit like a power source.

In fact, a power source is the origin of the force that maintains transcendent energy efficiency.

For example, if an alchemy tool suddenly loses its intended effect, the reason is usually due to two situations: either the alchemy tool itself is damaged, or the power source maintaining the effect of the alchemy tool has been depleted.

This concept of a power source is somewhat similar to a battery, its purpose is to activate, replenish, or sustain a particular efficiency.

Generally speaking, the majority of wizards use Magic Crystals as their power source.

The power furnace, however, holds a semblance to Magic Crystals, and through the burning of the power furnace, it can continuously supply energy to the Bone Leopard. Thus, in Angel’s view, the energy output of the power furnace is quite similar to that of the power source.

But as the Gentle Boiling Man explained the power furnace, Angel discovered some obvious differences. The targets of the power furnace’s effects are all biological.

Whereas the targets of the power source’s effects are essentially non-biological. Even the mechanical alchemist’s body puppets, which use a power source as their core, are more accurately described as semi-mechanical rather than completely biological.

Moreover, when energy from a power source is supplied to a biological entity, it requires a medium for transformation.

For example, all wizards know there is active energy in Magic Crystals, but no wizard would choose to directly absorb the energy from Magic Crystals, as the energy within the crystals is not compatible with their own energy system and is also impure. Only through certain special media, which remove impurities from the energy, can it be applied to oneself.

The energy output by the power furnace, however, directly enters the biological entity and participates in its internal energy cycle. This is something a power source cannot compare to!

After hearing the Gentle Boiling Man’s summary of the power furnace, Angel’s eyes flashed with a bright light.

Undoubtedly! If wizards could master this atypical power source, the power furnace, it could not only change the current form of energy application for wizards but might even alter the method of cultivation!

It might be possible to directly draw energy from the power furnace for cultivation, achieving rapid advancement!

Angel’s curiosity peaked as he realized the utility of the power furnace.

The Gentle Boiling Man, rarely receiving validation for his technology, especially from the esteemed Lord Shava, became increasingly excited, eager to showcase his various treasured power furnaces.

However, even with the urgency to display his work, they needed to return to the transformation laboratory first.

The Candle Maze is an extremely long labyrinth. Even though the Gentle Boiling Man is familiar with the path, it still takes time to quickly reach the transformation laboratory.

On the way to the Gentle Boiling Man’s transformation laboratory, Angel observed the Candle Maze. Occasionally, some modified magical creatures would appear. These modified creatures were not only black panthers; there were many with bizarre shapes, including a Void Slug that nearly filled the entire corridor, resembling a snake and stretching beyond sight.

These creatures were captured by the Gentle Boiling Man from the Void. They remain in the Candle Maze, becoming the first line of defense against intruders.

Besides the modified creatures, the corridor of the Candle Maze also occasionally revealed some doors. Some of these doors were disguised as mouths of magical creatures; entering these doors was akin to stepping into the belly of a creature. Others were actual rooms in the corridor, but even these weren’t completely safe, as inside they could harbor resurrected magic monster statues or eerie beings living within paintings.

However, for Angel, these magic monster statues and phantoms were relatively safe, as they were all Nightmare Realm Demons that were naturally suppressed by Shava’s identity, unlike the modified creatures that wouldn’t care less about who Angel was.

After traversing over twenty corridors and spending nearly half an hour, the Gentle Boiling Man finally stopped in front of an inconspicuous door.

“This is my transformation laboratory,” the Gentle Boiling Man pointed at the door and said.

Hearing the Gentle Boiling Man’s words, Angel nodded calmly, but internally, he was filled with sighs and amazement. The Candle Maze was even more difficult to navigate than he had imagined; it had taken this long even with the Gentle Boiling Man’s guidance. If wizards from the Barbarian Cave invaded here, they would likely remain lost in this endless maze forever.

The Gentle Boiling Man opened the door, revealing a pitch-black passage.

Angel was about to follow the Gentle Boiling Man inside when he suddenly caught a whiff of a fishy wind.

The wind came from his left. Angel looked over and saw that not far to the left was a corner, illuminated by candlelight, with a menacing shadow vaguely visible behind it.

The flame cast a long shadow, giving it a slightly terrifying appearance.

The Gentle Boiling Man noticed Angel’s gaze and casually explained: “There’s a Seed of Distortion embryo in that corridor, responsible for controlling the Night Fiends in the Black Dream Tunnel outside.”

A Seed of Distortion embryo? And…Night Fiends in the Black Dream Tunnel?

Angel suddenly realized something. Could the so-called Night Fiends mentioned by the Gentle Boiling Man be the creatures he encountered with his mentor and Lord Rhein during their delve into the ruins, hidden within the darkness?

If these were indeed the creatures hidden in the darkness, could it mean…

“Is that the exit to the demi-plane?” Angel suppressed his growing excitement, feigning calm as he asked.

The Gentle Boiling Man, suspecting nothing, nodded and said, “That’s right, the exit to the Xinnai Land isn’t far over there.”

Indeed! That really was the exit!

Angel’s heart raced; ever since he’d been dragged into Duling Garden, he had been trying every means to leave this ruin, and now it was just a few steps away!

Angel wanted to leave immediately, but he knew he couldn’t rush. He still had to play the role of Shava, continuing along the path of Shava’s script…

He had mentioned at the banquet that he was interested in the Seed of Distortion, so even if he wanted to leave now, he’d first have to accompany the Gentle Boiling Man to inspect this Seed of Distortion.

At the very least, he had to go through the motions.

With this in mind, Angel concealed the urgency in his eyes and said calmly, “I’m also quite interested in the Seed of Distortion. Since it’s a Seed of Distortion embryo, may I go and take a look?”
