Chapter 2053: Chapter 2054: Banquet

Indeed, the Misty Goldlady began to sing, though not with words.

The song’s content was unexpectedly not so absurd. There were no dark fairy tales or terrifyingly subtle hints, but a simple chant of Swan Lake under the moonlight.

Although the lyrics were not noteworthy, Misty Goldlady’s voice was chillingly cold—sharp and fierce in the high registers, bizarre and eerie in the low tones—a regular song transformed into a ghostly theatre.

In Angel’s view, this song could be regarded as an alternative form of art.

Moreover, Angel could sense some of her emotions through Misty Goldlady’s chanting.

Unexpectedly, it matched the character description of Misty Goldlady as depicted by the Mad Spirit.

Misty Goldlady was indeed feeling guilty, and she earnestly hoped to express her remorse to Angel through this song, yearning for forgiveness.

Although Angel didn’t quite understand why she believed singing would earn forgiveness—was it because it was a Nightmare Realm custom, or perhaps because Shava liked to hear songs?

Since Misty Goldlady genuinely expressed guilt, the Mad Spirit’s previous claim that she was a shy person might hold some truth. If this were true, then when Angel first arrived at Duling Garden and turned back to look at Misty Goldlady, her shriek and escape seemed plausible.

However, what is Misty Goldlady’s true character? Is she really shy? If this was before entering the castle, Angel might have taken it seriously. But now, under the pressure of the impending banquet, these are no longer particularly important.

Angel was thinking of only one thing, that once Misty Goldlady’s singing concluded, he would resolutely maintain his stance to cancel the banquet.

But as Misty Goldlady’s song reached its climax, her voice suddenly stopped.

The pause was abrupt, catching Angel off guard, as if the sound was swallowed by darkness.

Angel looked up to find Misty Goldlady still shrouded in darkness, her exact state indiscernible. The Mad Spirit, floating mid-air, was staring intently down the carpeted corridor.

At the end of the corridor stood the grand door of the Silver Night Castle.

Although the Mad Spirit said nothing, its gaze, along with Misty Goldlady’s halted singing, revealed everything.

—Someone was about to arrive at the castle.

Though unaware of who was coming, anyone causing such a reaction from both the Mad Spirit and Misty Goldlady was unlikely to be a native of Duling Garden, and was probably a guest for the banquet.

Angel sighed deeply; even though he was extremely reluctant to face unknown Nightmare Realm entities, since they were already at the door, refusing to meet would be a greater point of conflict than canceling the banquet.

Angel, wanting to maintain a low profile while pretending to be Shava, did not want to instigate such conflict. Moreover, he could not be sure if the visitor was amicable; if they were violent, a refusal might lead to hostility, for which he needed to consider solutions to prevent future issues.

Therefore, whatever choice he made, he seemed destined to meet the new visitor.

Angel cast a glance toward the Misty Goldlady hidden in darkness, suspecting that her singing might not be an apology but merely a delay tactic.

However, upon reflection, Misty Goldlady hadn’t sung long, and only a couple of minutes had passed since he mentioned canceling the banquet.

Perhaps Misty Goldlady did intend to stall for time, but regardless of whether this assumption was right or wrong, once the guests had arrived, canceling was no longer feasible.

As Angel’s mind rapidly shifted, contemplating ways to handle the situation, the ground suddenly trembled.

It was as if a colossal creature had landed outside.

While speculating if it were the guests, the ground shook again and with rhythmic regularity.

The entire hall vibrated, causing everything within to jitter. Objects disguised as ornaments—a teacup person, a plate person, a candlestick person—all extended limbs, struggling to maintain balance.

“Honorable Shava, the most adorable Davasia has arrived.” The Mad Spirit turned to Angel, eyes pleading: “Please, Shava, take the main seat, or else I’ll be turned into a mint-flavored candy by Davasia, and Misty Goldlady will become a chilled jelly.”

The Mad Spirit spoke with peculiar words that Angel did not understand, but he grasped its intent.

It beseeched him to take the main seat, lest the Mad Spirit and Misty Goldlady face punishment.

Angel actually found the thought of the Mad Spirit and Misty Goldlady getting punished amusing, but since it would lead to a banquet he had to partake in, he was only acquainted with them. Rather than having them punished and eliminated, allowing them to stay might be better. First, it was a favor; second, they could facilitate discussions if topics arose during the banquet.

With this thought, Angel shot the Mad Spirit a meaningful look, letting it interpret at will, then stood up, came to the head of the long table, and slowly took his seat.

As the Mad Spirit breathed a sigh of relief, the castle door swung open.

Accompanied by ground tremors, a loud “thud thud” of footsteps echoed through the hall.

“It seems this visitor is quite large?” Angel judged while looking towards the carpeted corridor.

He looked straight at the open door.

There was no sign of any creature.

Yet the footsteps and vibrations continued, growing louder, indicating the entity was approaching the hall.

Angel was puzzled for a moment, his gaze gradually lowering.

He finally saw the so-called visitor.

A short, chubby figure with a bright red bellyband. Estimated around 1.2 to 1.3 meters tall, with short limbs and a massive belly resembling a ball.

“Is he Davasia?” The moment Angel saw the short, stout figure, he began constructing a multidimensional analysis in his mind.

Davasia’s face was human-like, features squeezed almost into slits by fat, with the most prominent being two dark nostrils and a large red mouth.

A chain hung from his waist, ending in a black iron ball. Each step he took made the ball bounce and crash onto the floor, creating loud sounds along with vibrations. Evidently, this iron ball was extraordinarily heavy.

After Davasia entered the hall, Misty Goldlady remained still while the Mad Spirit flew to him, respectfully saying: “Welcome, most adorable Davasia, to the Silver Night Castle’s banquet. Please allow humble me to present this lollipop made by the Rainbow Mud Worms to you.”

As he finished speaking, a rainbow-shaped lollipop appeared out of thin air, falling into Davasia’s hand.

Davasia extended a thick tongue without hesitation to lick it. His face was all fat, hiding his expression, but from his emitted emotions, it could be felt he was very excited.

“Since adorable Davasia likes this lollipop, I won’t eat you this time.”
