Chapter 2050: Chapter 2051: The Girl in the Painting

The familiar rough voice rang in Angel’s ears.

“Mad?” Angel looked in confusion at the thick-covered book in front of him. Earlier, when he saw those round eyes and the unbelievably large mouth, he had some suspicions. Now, hearing its voice, it was exactly the same as the Mad Hat on the statue outside.

“Honorable Ms. Shava, I didn’t expect you to remember my name.” The eyes of the thick-covered book inexplicably filled with tears, moved.

Angel: “…We met three minutes ago.”

As if afraid Angel would misunderstand, the thick-covered book opened up, and two slender hands stretched out from the pages, waving vigorously at Angel: “Please don’t misunderstand, I didn’t mean that Ms. Shava has a poor memory; what I mean is, someone as humble as I am, being remembered by Ms. Shava, is a great fortune.”

Angel was silent for a moment, not knowing how to respond, so he simply changed the topic: “Why did you become this book again?”

“I am a spirit body, I can attach to anything. But speaking of this, this book is actually my true form, and sir, look at the book title, ‘Crazy Wood’s Cultivation Journal’, I use the prefix of the title as my name…”

“Ah, the Misty Goldlady once warned me not to reveal my true form to outsiders, otherwise they might burn me with fire, and I would die completely.”

“Yes, fire is my weakness, if I’m burned I would be destroyed. But telling Ms. Shava this is surely fine.”

Mad pointed to the “Mad” in the book title and began to chatter endlessly explaining, even involving his own true form and weaknesses, which made Angel frown.

Angel hadn’t thought about dealing with Mad, at least not now. The reason for his frown was simply that this guy was a bit noisy.

When outside the castle, Angel thought it seemed to be talkative. Now it’s basically confirmed, not only talkative but also long-winded.

However, Mad’s talkative and topic-extending nature could be utilized, maybe some useful information could be gained.

“What is this book about?” Angel took the opportunity to ask during Mad’s talking pause.

When Angel asked this question, he was actually a little nervous, fearing that this book might be very famous in the Nightmare Realm and he would leave a flaw in his act as Shava. However, compared to using Shava’s identity to inquire about Silver Night Castle and Misty Goldlady, this question was relatively less likely to give him away.

Luckily, Mad didn’t seem suspicious at all, still enthusiastically talking.

Mad continued in his topic-extending manner, explaining all the ins and outs of the book. With Mad’s narration, Angel roughly understood the book’s content.

It’s actually a journal recording mushroom cultivation, authored by “Crazy Wood”. Many mushrooms in Duling Garden originated from this book.

However, there are also some special mushrooms cultivated by others. For example, the Misty Mush is created by Minister Nuka.

Angel originally wanted to find out who “Crazy Wood” was, but Mad seemed to not know either. This surprised Angel; Mad was just a book spirit after all, it was the first time Angel had heard of a book spirit not knowing the author.

Angel didn’t know if Mad was lying or truly didn’t know. But since it was already discussed, Angel didn’t pursue it, and continued to listen to his chatter.

Mad became more excited, even mentioning the Queen had once reviewed the book, though Mad’s perspective was quite peculiar.

“…When the Queen’s fingers touched me, I felt a burst of white light in my mind, my whole body felt weak and limp… It felt like this life was worth it.”

“Besides the Queen, Minister Nuka also perused me. Though I was happy, Minister Nuka’s nails were too sharp, it hurt a bit unlike Misty Goldlady, whose flipping was gentle…”

Mad’s eyes grew misty, completely lost in his memories. But just when he talked about Misty Goldlady, a mystical wave suddenly appeared.

This wave didn’t target Angel, but it enveloped Mad, making him shut his mouth instantly.

Angel turned his head, looking at the wall behind the head of the long table, where the wave had originated.

The slightly reddish wall, aside from a wall lamp burning with a faint flame, only had a gold-waved framed picture, with a half-body portrait inside.

Since entering the hall, Angel had actually noticed the oil painting. It used very deep hues, depicting a dignified young girl in luxurious clothing.

However, the girl’s eyes were closed, seemingly not wishing to see this world.

In traditional nobility castle halls, there are always some paintings, so seeing this painting, Angel didn’t think much. Now, sensing the mysterious wave that silenced Mad, Angel couldn’t ignore it.

The source of the mysterious wave was this painting.

Though the girl in the painting now remained still with closed eyes, Angel remembered vividly that before the girl’s hands were relaxed, gracefully resting around her waist. But now, the girl’s hands were clenched into fists, Angel could even see the veins standing out on her hands.

If it were just the hands in the painting moving, Angel wouldn’t be surprised, because this was the Nightmare Realm’s demi-plane, with its dense Nightmare Realm aura, spawning many bizarre things.

The reason Angel focused on this painting was partly because of the mystery wave, but also because the girl in the painting struck him with a feeling of… familiarity deep inside.

The shape of the hands was very familiar, and that head of black hair, though tied up, made Angel think of the woman he had seen earlier, standing at the castle’s third-floor window, looking out at him.

“Misty Goldlady?” Angel muttered the name softly.

As soon as the name was uttered, the girl in the painting couldn’t hold it anymore, transforming into a spiritual body and, with a leap, emerged from the painting.

As she emerged, her tied-up hair automatically fell, covering her face, and her luxurious dress turned into a white garment, exactly as seen on the woman before!

And, being in spirit form, her body emitted a soft glow.

This gentle light made her hands look slender and fair.

Angel remembered that not long ago, the hands that hugged him, emanating a faint glow, had pulled him from the passage entrance to Duling Garden.

At this point, Angel was nearly certain that the young girl was indeed Misty Goldlady!

After all, Misty Goldlady had brought him here, and as the owner of Duling Garden, her strength was definitely not weak. Angel didn’t know if Misty Goldlady harbored any ill intent towards him, so after confirming her identity, Angel felt very nervous, unsure of how to approach this unknown intelligent being.

However, what surprised Angel was that even though he was nervous, Misty Goldlady seemed to be… more nervous than him?
