Chapter 2035: Chapter 2036: Silhouette Within the Belly

As Angel frowned, trying to find new clues from the mushroom, its emotions suddenly changed again.

Although it was still muttering “Adelaide,” its emotions shifted from calm to agitated! At the same time, intense malice emanated once again.

While Angel was puzzled, a huge crack appeared vertically down the center of the mushroom’s stalk, clearly its mouth.

Because, along the edges of the crack, rows of dense, sharp teeth could be seen.

Angel once read on his holographic tablet about snails, which have hundreds of rows of teeth in their mouths, totaling up to tens of thousands. Angel noted this information but never thought much about it. Now, seeing the dense sharp teeth in the mushroom made him recall it instantly.

However, compared to the snail’s teeth, which pose little threat to humans, the mushroom’s teeth were different. With Angel’s alchemist eye, he could tell the sharpness of these teeth was enough to tear through and break humans under the defense spell.

But, since the mushroom’s range of motion is limited, and its bite range isn’t vast, the teeth aren’t the primary threat.

Angel easily dodged several biting attacks.

Angel was unharmed, while the mushroom, from continuously shaking and hitting the ground, seemed somewhat dizzy.

Seeing the biting was ineffective, it stopped and shot a tongue covered in sticky fluid from its mouth, attacking Angel frantically.

Angel had easily dealt with the previous tentacle pursuits, let alone this tongue. Moreover, Angel could clearly sense that upon getting closer, the mushroom’s control over its power diminished.

While evading, he even had the leisure to continue talking about Adelaide, hoping to get some feedback from the mushroom.

However, the mushroom’s feedback merely became increasingly frantic. In the end, even Adelaide’s name failed to stir any emotional reaction from it.

Now it had completely turned into a chaotic brawl.

Angel dodged another tongue strike intertwined with toxic fiery wind, slowly descending from the air. His gaze towards the mushroom had gradually turned cold; earlier, he thought this mushroom might be connected to the controlled humans, but after so long, there was no effective return.

Angel was getting impatient; since there was no information to be found, there was no need to waste time. He now had two choices: either leave directly or cut it down before leaving.

Angel leaned towards the second option, but considering this was the domain of Nightmare Realm creatures, would cutting it down be overstepping boundaries?

While Angel was thinking, a new wave of mushroom attacks arrived.

But this time, the mushroom didn’t manipulate flames or use its tongue; instead, it began to slowly inflate like taking a breath, instantly turning into a “big fatty.”

By the time Angel realized something was wrong, it had already blown the air it inhaled at him.

Angel initially thought it was another fire wind attack and didn’t take it seriously but when it exhaled, he discovered these breaths had no fire elements but rather something unfamiliar—

Viridian mist!

Exactly like the light mist Angel had previously seen sprayed from the bee Blair!

A large amount of viridian mist spewed from the mushroom’s mouth, completely covering all of Angel’s escape routes.

Angel didn’t know what harm the viridian mist might cause, but he had no intention of experimenting firsthand. Instead, he planned to open the gate and leave the mist-covered area.

However, before Angel could activate The Gate of Void, he sensed a surge of excitement.

The emotion came from the three misty bodies at the heel of his shoe.

During Angel’s combat, these three little beings had been disguising themselves as shoe attachments, but upon sensing the viridian mist, they immediately revealed their true forms. They leapt off the heel one by one, bouncing around Angel, frantically inhaling and exhaling the viridian mist.

Eventually, the viridian mist couldn’t even approach Angel, as these three little beings consumed it all.

Moreover, Angel could sense that the more they inhaled, the more excited they became, even attempting to approach the large mushroom’s mouth to secure the best position to enjoy this delicious moment.

Angel initially intended to stop them, considering the mushroom still emitted malice and was dangerous.

But just as Angel looked up, he was suddenly dumbfounded.

His gaze fixed on the mushroom’s mouth, where he previously saw nothing but dense sharp teeth. Now, with the lumen of viridian mist being expelled, he saw at the depths of its mouth, a shadow.

Despite the heavy mist, Angel couldn’t discern the exact appearance of the shadow, but it clearly had a humanoid silhouette!

Inside the mushroom’s mouth… a human?

Angel’s eyes lit up. Could it be that the humans he’d been searching for were actually inside this mushroom’s mouth?

A thought occurred to Angel, and his mind space quickly constructed an observation spell aimed at inspecting the true nature of the shadow. However, at this moment, the mushroom seemed to realize that the viridian mist was ineffective against Angel and was preparing to close its mouth.

Angel wouldn’t let it close at this moment. Raising his brow slightly for the first time in Duling Garden, he activated the green pattern in his right eye.

With the pulsation of the green pattern, a surge of fluid emitted from his right eye, swiftly forming a mask covered in bizarre patterns.

This mask covered half of Angel’s right face.

The mask was filled with eerie lines, predominantly black with the right eye appearing to be a squinting smile. However, the dark contrast exuded an unsettling absurdity rather than laughter.

At the instant the mask appeared, a terrifying oppressive force radiated around Angel.

The mushroom, which was trying to close its mouth, froze. The actions of the three little beings halted, as did the viridian mist permeating the space.

In that moment, it was as if time had frozen.

Yet, it was only seemingly frozen. Angel’s current power couldn’t truly influence time; it was merely the oppressive field achieved by activating the green pattern more effectively.

This was one of Angel’s research achievements on the green pattern in his right eye developed during his self-reflection period.

Angel intended for the mushroom to pause briefly, allowing him to quickly explore the truth about the shadow. However, he was somewhat surprised by the oppressive impact’s effectiveness.

Not only had the mushroom stopped moving, but from the emotional waves it transmitted, Angel, for the first time, sensed an emotion beyond frenzy and malice—fear.

This unexpected effect, Angel attributed to the opposing Nightmare Realm creature.

The ability of the green pattern might possess a stronger restraint against Nightmare Realm creatures.
