Chapter 2023: Chapter 2024: Emerald Green Mushrooms

“How is your situation over there now, and who took you?” Despite Sanders’ usual demeanor, there was a hint of urgency in his voice.

Angel: “I’m not sure of the situation at the moment, but I will find a way out as soon as possible.”

Angel was now at the top of the Sky Tower in the Wilderness of Dreams.

A minute earlier, after confirming there was no immediate danger around, Angel had entered the Wilderness of Dreams. His original plan was to enter the Wilderness of Dreams and have Frode leave a message for Sanders so he wouldn’t worry.

But to Angel’s surprise, just as he entered the Wilderness of Dreams, Sanders had appeared in the Sky Tower right after.

Hence, the current conversation, where Angel directly spoke to Sanders about his current situation.

“…The Mushroom Garden I’m in, I still can’t determine if it’s dangerous, so I must go back immediately now.” Although Angel had set up simple defenses around him when he Entered the Dream, if real danger appeared, it might not be defensible.

After verifying Angel’s current situation, Sanders, although still a bit worried internally, couldn’t show it in front of Angel and could only say quickly, “Put your own safety first, and remember to stay in contact at all times.”

Angel nodded: “I understand.”

As soon as Angel finished speaking, his figure transformed into light and shadow and disappeared from Frode’s office. Only a pondering Sanders and a puzzled Frode were left behind.

Angel opened his eyes.

First, he gauged his own condition and then looked around to ensure no other creatures were nearby before retrieving the Alchemy Tools used for defense around him.

Just then, Angel’s gaze fell to the ground beneath him, where three small, palm-sized mushrooms with bright green spots huddled together like a cluster of green flowers, quite cute at first glance.

“Weren’t these mushrooms not here before?” Angel hesitantly reached out to touch the cap of one of the mushrooms.

As his fingertip touched the smooth mushroom cap, a sensation of joy emanated from the green mushroom under his fingers.

The green mushroom began nodding and nudging Angel’s finger, seeming very happy. Meanwhile, in Angel’s surprised gaze, the other mushrooms pulled themselves from the ground, like small palm-sized people, and nudged Angel’s hand.

Sending a fawning emotion toward Angel.

In an instant, the three little fellows previously disguised as unmoving mushrooms all revealed their true forms.

Clearly, these three mushrooms appeared next to Angel while he was Entering the Dream. However, what puzzled Angel was that they hadn’t triggered the defense mechanism, why was that?

Angel looked around and saw no footprints; was it because they grew from the ground?

Although Angel didn’t feel any malice from these three green mushrooms, he remained vigilant. He had been a bit too casual when he Entered the Dream earlier; in the future, without understanding the specific situation of unfamiliar environments, it’s best to forgo Entering the Dream. After all, he couldn’t always be as lucky as this time.

Angel gazed at the three green mushrooms brimming with fawning emotions, eager for his touch… After a moment of hesitation, he still reached out to slightly touch their caps.

The three little fellows immediately began nodding happily.

Angel didn’t know what they were happy about or if they thought he was a big mushroom too?

Since the emotions from these three mushrooms were very faint, Angel could judge they might be even less intelligent than a colorful dragonfly, so he didn’t intend to gather information from them. He merely patted their heads, then stood up, preparing to leave the area.

However, to Angel’s slight annoyance, when the three green mushrooms saw him leaving, they immediately jumped back into the ground with graceful moves, as if the hard ground was not ground but a swimming pool to them.

Soon after, the three green mushrooms appeared at his feet once more.

Angel: “…” He thought they had left but realized they were sticking to him?

Angel had no choice but to continue patting them, indicating he was leaving. But with each pat, they became more active, following him wherever he went, bobbing their heads as soon as they emerged.

Eventually, Angel chose to ignore them, letting them flit in and out of the ground as they pleased.

Angel’s main goal now was to leave the area. Although he didn’t know the way, he wasn’t walking aimlessly. He headed in the direction where the female who had hugged him from behind had disappeared earlier.

Even though she was likely a highly intelligent creature from the Nightmare Realm, since she hadn’t harmed him before, there was a chance to extract information from her.

Otherwise, finding a way out of this strange Mushroom Garden would be extremely difficult.

Angel walked for about three or four minutes, encountering no other creatures and no danger apart from the elusive three green mushrooms at his feet.

However, the mushrooms here were indeed peculiar, like the one next to Angel now.

Towering toward the sky like a giant tree. Angel had never heard of mushrooms growing that tall.

Angel patted the mushroom’s body, feeling its thick texture, and it exuded the distinctive aroma of fungi, involuntarily reminding Angel of the creamy mushroom soup cooked by Head Maid Mana.

“Suddenly, I feel like eating mushrooms.” Angel muttered softly, heading forward.

He didn’t notice that as he disappeared from sight, a crack emerged in the center of what he deemed a harmless giant mushroom, filled with sharp teeth, and faint traces of bones were visible among the teeth…

Angel continued walking for another ten minutes, reaching a small stream.

To call it a stream was a bit of a stretch because the stream flowed with pink water, and a thin layer of pink mist drifted over the surface.

It blended well with the colorful Mushroom Forest.

Angel, fully aware of the adage that curiosity killed the cat, aimed to steer clear of potentially dangerous areas while focusing on leaving, such as this unknown stream.

Angel directly opened The Gate of Void, crossing from one end of the stream to the other.

As he landed, the three green mushrooms surfaced simultaneously.

He wondered how they crossed the river?

Angel didn’t care and continued walking ahead. However, after crossing over the hill after the river, he encountered the first strange creature aside from mushrooms.

It was a bee wearing a red and pink bib and a pink hat on its head.
