Chapter 1889: Section 1890: As If in a Dream
Jon stopped playing, and on stage, Flafiel naturally ceased singing as well. She cast a puzzled look toward the petite little girl.
Upon seeing the girl’s appearance clearly, Flafiel seemed to realize something, and she suddenly froze.
On the other side, Jon, noticing the girl didn’t respond, turned his gaze to Adar: “When did she come in?”
Adar shook his head: “I don’t know. I’ve been listening to the teachers play and didn’t notice what was happening around me. I thought Shanni was still sitting next to me, but I didn’t expect…”
As Adar spoke, he sneaked a peek at the little girl who seemed to still be immersed in the song, then quietly took a step back.
Jon then looked at Shanni, whose brows were furrowed with confusion: “I don’t know either. Adar was nagging next to me, so I got annoyed and went to the side. I didn’t notice anyone was there.”
As Shanni spoke, she pondered.
The theater’s lighting wasn’t actually very bright. The large double doors of the theater, when opened, would let in light and cause noise, which they would definitely notice immediately.
Since the doors were now closed, it indicated the little girl hadn’t entered through them.
Where could she have come from? Shanni couldn’t help but glance around; the surrounding doors were closed, with only the door to the third-floor balcony open.
When Shanni looked towards the third-floor balcony door, she suddenly froze.
“Is that… climbing vine?” The balcony was covered with large patches of climbing vine. Seeing such things wouldn’t surprise Shanni in reality, nor on the walls of Nightmare Orphanage’s buildings. But this was the Wilderness of Dreams—how could there be so many climbing vines here?
Shanni couldn’t help looking back at the little girl with strange plants growing from her back. She had a gut feeling that the climbing vine might be related to her.
Jon noticed the plants on the balcony too, and a hint of understanding flashed in his eyes. Angel had told him about the Dream Plant Fairy just yesterday; how could he forget?
Though Jon confirmed the little girl was a Dream Plant Fairy, he still remained cautious. He didn’t yet know the Dream Plant Fairy’s attitude towards humans. Moreover, why had this Dream Plant Fairy appeared in the theater, and what were her intentions?
As everyone harbored their own thoughts, the little girl, waving her head and loudly chirping away, finally came back to her senses.
“Why did you stop singing?” With a look of confusion, she glanced at Flafiel on stage: “Continue!”
Her words reached everyone’s ears, though no one could understand what she was saying.
“It’s so beautiful! Really beautiful! I seemed to see a great lake uplifted by a hurricane, and…” She muttered on, seemingly trying to express her admiration and to butter up Flafiel, hoping she would continue singing.
But after speaking for a while, she realized everyone was looking at her with puzzled expressions. The little boy next to her even asked something with a childish tone.
However, she didn’t understand.
“Oh, right, humans probably can’t understand what I’m saying.” She finally realized the issue. Yet, knowing this, she didn’t know how to solve it.
Without pondering the differences between humans and Dream Plant Fairies, and without considering whether to wage war or peace, her mind was filled with thoughts of how to make the lady on stage understand her and continue singing.
After a bout of scratching her head, she seemed to remember something. The plant on her back, like a vortex, started spinning as if turbine wings, lifting her into the air.
While everyone was still in astonishment, she flew towards the stage.
Her target was naturally Flafiel.
“Ms. Flafiel!” Adar was somewhat worried that the little girl might harm Flafiel, running with his little legs toward the stage.
However, halfway there, Jon grabbed him by the back of his collar and pulled him back.
“Mentor?” Adar looked at Jon doubtfully.
“Don’t worry, it’s alright.” Jon signaled Adar to relax, and under Jon’s calming demeanor, Adar quieted down.
Jon turned back to quietly watch the stage. His confidence that the Dream Plant Fairy wouldn’t harm Flafiel wasn’t unfounded.
Not long ago, Angel’s voice echoed in Jon’s ear. Angel had told him what the Dream Plant Fairy just said.
Since the Dream Plant Fairy merely wished for Flafiel to continue singing, she naturally wouldn’t harm her.
Even if she intended to do something to Flafiel, Jon had ways to stop her in time… He carried several Magic Rune Scrolls on him, after all.
“I think this alien just wants to say something to Flafiel. Watch and see.” Jon whispered.
On stage, the Dream Plant Fairy had already flown to Flafiel’s side.
At this moment, Shanni came over and quietly said to Jon, “Mentor Jon, doesn’t it seem like Ms. Flafiel’s expression is a bit strange?”
Adar nodded vigorously upon hearing her, “I also think so.”
Jon looked at Flafiel. Indeed, her expression was as the two young ones suggested—odd. She neither appeared surprised nor puzzled but seemed rather in a dreamy stupor as if coming out of a reverie.
Flafiel was indeed bewildered… Seeing a dream creature before her, who wouldn’t feel unsettled?
Yesterday, when she fainted on the plaza, she dreamt of strange scenes, like trees and silhouettes, and the little girl before her eyes bore a strong resemblance to the figures in her dreams.
While Flafiel’s mind was in tumult, the dream creature approached her, speaking many words softly.
Flafiel couldn’t understand a single sentence, but as someone sensitive to sound and emotion, she could tell the odd little girl bore no malice in her tone. Instead, it was filled with ingratiation and urgency.
Why ingratiate herself? What was she so urgent about?
As Flafiel pondered in confusion, the little girl reached out and softly touched her piled-up hair.
Unaware of what was happening, Adar suddenly gasped from afar, clasping his mouth.
Seeing Adar’s shock and Shanni’s daze, Flafiel seemed to perceive something. She felt her hair and found something that wasn’t there before.
This cool, soft texture… it felt like a flower?
Gently plucking it, Flafiel removed the item from her hair, and it was indeed a flower.
A vibrant red rose exuding a rich fragrance.
This was the first real plant Flafiel had seen since arriving at Originheart City.
“Is this for me?” Flafiel pointed to the flower, then to herself.
The little girl seemed to understand what Flafiel meant and nodded vigorously.
As Flafiel was still bewildered, the little girl who gave her the flower suddenly started humming a song… Flafiel paused for a moment; the girl had a very good voice, though a few notes were off pitch, she could tell it was “Prayer to the Sea.”
She hummed a couple of lines before stopping, then looked at Flafiel with imploring, flattering eyes.
By this point, how could Flafiel not understand her intention?
