Chapter 1872: Section 1873: Vine Demoness

Those seeds emitting a faint glow were blended within the mist, making them hardly noticeable. Yet, these seeds were the reason Angel esteemed the “Tree Civilization” so highly.

Because they are the foundation of civilization.

Frode and Sanders quietly observed the green mist at this moment. They were unaware of the presence of the glowing seeds, but since Angel instructed them to keep watching, it hinted that a change was forthcoming.

Soon, Frode suddenly rubbed his eyes: “Am I seeing things? A flash of light just seemed to pass by?”

“Indeed, there was a flash of light within the mist.” Sanders replied confidently.

As Sanders’ words fell, Frode saw the light again, a point of light suddenly brightened amidst the dense green mist, as thick as fluid.

It appeared to be breathing, flickering on and off.

As time passed, this light began to flash more frequently, growing increasingly bright until it remained perpetually illuminated, no longer dim.

What exactly was this light?

Frode was full of confusion and just as he was about to ask, the shining light suddenly started to move.

Not swaying in the wind as before, but with a clear sense of purpose. The light flashed and pierced through the layers of green mist, heading straight toward the largest leaf in the middle layer of the sky-reaching giant tree.

When the light reached the leaf, comparable in size to a town square, a peculiar wave emanated from within.

Even Frode, who was miles away, sensed this wave.

The wave was odd, not a sound, yet it allowed people to perceive meanings within it, somewhat akin to dialogue through spiritual power in the Mind Ribbon.

However, conversations within the Mind Ribbon, even if connected to multiple people, still possess purposeful and directional communication, whereas this wave was purely a general announcement.

As if someone was shouting with a loudspeaker on the street, anyone nearby could hear it.

The meanings within the wave were not difficult to decipher; the light was affectionately calling: “Mother.”

The light was not addressing them as Mother; rather, it was affectionately, joyously, and flatteringly paying respects to the colossal tree as Mother.

The sky-reaching giant tree seemed to have felt the wave. The leaf carrying the light swayed slightly in the breeze, triggering a series of joyful waves from the light.

Within the joy, another wave entered the “broadcast”. This time, it carried more meanings, still joyous but with a hint of pleading: “Can I stay here?”

The giant tree responded once more, not with speech, but by releasing a luminous green energy that gently enveloped the light.

The seed within the light suddenly began to undergo a bizarre transformation, triggered by this radiant green energy.

In mid-air, the seed sprouted, then numerous green vines emerged from the seed. These vines resembled thorns, encircling themselves at their birth, forming an oval cocoon, over ten meters high, covered in red and white spikes.

This cocoon landed on the leaf, which bounced it into the air. As the cocoon was propelled into the air, the giant tree imparted to it another portion of green energy.

Imbued with this energy, the incubation of the cocoon accelerated exponentially, and within almost ten seconds, the vine-covered cocoon split open.

Within a halo of light, a woman with hair resembling green silk and a perfectly beautiful face slowly crawled out from the cocoon.

It’s “crawled”, not “walked”.

Because, despite having a facial resemblance to humans, her green hair and the red and white spiked skin indicated she was not human; most importantly, below her waist was only thick, dark green vines.

It was as if a human had a snake’s tail transplanted, only her vines were extremely long, estimated to be twenty times longer than her upper body. Moreover, the vines were also covered in spikes, glowing with a cold gleam, absolutely terrifying.

“What is this? A Vine Demoness?” Frode, startled by the scene before him, couldn’t help but exclaim softly.

No one answered Frode, yet the vine-bearing woman seemed to have keen senses, noticing Frode, she turned her head to look over.

Her eyes lacked pupils, being entirely dark green, and when she met Frode’s gaze, it carried an eerie and indifferent aura.

Frode’s heartbeat suddenly skipped a beat, frightened.

Vine Demoness… for now, let’s call her by this name. She seemed very puzzled by Frode’s identity, turned her head and softly inquired of the giant tree.

This time, unlike her previous “general broadcast”, Frode could not hear what she was saying, but it wasn’t hard to guess, she was asking something. Probably, she was inquiring about Frode and the others’ identities.

“I answered her on behalf of the tree, saying you are humans, allies of the tree.” Angel’s voice reached Frode’s ear.

Angel answered on behalf of the tree?

Frode was momentarily puzzled before quickly realizing. The tree must be the sky-reaching giant tree; Angel possessed the Ability Tree, hence was able to control the “Tree Civilization” to an extent, naturally capable of answering on behalf of the tree.

“However, even though I claimed you are allies of the tree, she still seemingly harbors disdain and prejudice against humans…”

Sanders: “Just like the Demonic Fiends, naturally opposed?”

Angel: “Perhaps it’s just an exclusionary instinct towards those not of the same kind, or maybe, like other creatures in the Dream Realm, it’s an inherent desire for destruction against everything.”

Sanders: “Can’t you control her thoughts?”

Angel shook his head: “I can guide, but I cannot fully control.” This was why Angel found it troublesome.

“And guiding can only be achieved through the Tree Civilization, because these… Fairies are created by the Tree Civilization. To some extent, Fairies will worship this giant tree and follow some of its commands. But just like humans, the human heart is unpredictable, at times there might be hypocrisy.”

“Is this so-called Fairy, the Tree Civilization?” Sanders asked curiously.

Angel nodded, then shook his head: “It’s a product of the Tree Civilization, but it cannot represent the Tree Civilization.”

Sanders still wanted to ask more, when Frode suddenly pointed into the distance: “There are light points flashing in the mist again, and this time, it’s not just one! So many!”

Sanders turned at the sound to look back, indeed, countless light points began to appear within the thick green mist surrounding the sky-reaching giant tree.

They were like stars under a green curtain night sky, continually flashing in rhythm with breaths.

Their numbers were as vast as stars; at first glance, they were innumerable!

“Will all these light points transform into Fairies?” Frode’s voice trembled slightly, if they truly all changed into Fairies, this would greatly exceed the current residents of Originheart City!

“Barring accidents, yes.”
