“Peace, wait, wait!”

Don’t rush in, not now! At my urgent shout, Peace stopped in her tracks mid-run. She tilted her head with a curious “Kkiang” sound. Yeah, it must look normal to your eyes. But still.

…Everything really was gone. Only my boots remained. Besides that, earrings and Eunhye. …No wonder it felt even weirder. I wrapped myself as tightly as possible with the coat. It was long but didn’t close fully—gaps kept appearing near the bottom.

What the hell is this? Even searching the inventory, the only clothes left were a jacket and a wool set. No pants. Bottoms are the most important.

“Hyung!”

Yuhyun called me. I turned, half-expecting, and saw everyone else dressed properly. Except Chief Song. She, unlike me, had her bottoms intact under the coat. Seems she didn’t want to spend reward points on shirts. Couldn’t help the pants though.

Anyway, looks like the newcomers took care of the others. Good that everyone except me is safe. So embarrassing I could die.

“Hyung, do you need clothes─”

“Uh, yeah. Yerim, don’t come here!”

“It’s all wrapped up, you can’t see anything~”

“Still, no!”

My shout mixed with the goblins’ murmurs: What’s going on? Why’s Mr. Kim like that? The dog shrank! It’s the king! And so on. Chaos everywhere.

“First, first! How long since we disappeared? Time, I mean.”

“One hour!”

“No, five hours!”

“One hundred ninety-nine hours! Exact!”

“Mr. Kim, I’m hungry!”

“I’m sleepy!”

…Anyway, not even a day had passed. It wasn’t daylight yet. Judging by the moon’s position, maybe three or four hours. Dawn was near.

“Want me to take off my clothes for you?”

“What would you do? They won’t fit anyway.”

I appreciated my brother’s kindness, but I’d look ridiculous.

“There’s still wool left, and underwear─”

“No! I refuse!”

Hot pink wool panties? Are you out of your mind? That endless wool…

“If you’re giving something, take off your own.”

“After Sillekia, now you want the last piece too? My partner’s really greedy.”

Seong Hyunjae babbled that even he needed time to prepare if he was to give that. Honestly, I thought he’d shamelessly stroll around naked in broad daylight. Chief Song would arrest him right away, though.

Chief Song looked like she wanted to say something, but I quickly shook my head. No, it’s okay. Not really, but okay.

“Yuhyun, turn around and cover me. Seong Hyunjae, don’t look.”

I grabbed a long cardigan and wrapped it around my lower body. Having my lower half fully covered brought a little peace of mind.

Ah, really. I had things to say and do, but my mind went blank.

“No goblins missing, right? All here?”

Yunyun loudly checked the goblins.

“All the goblins who agreed to come are here!”

“No goblins hanging with the baby monsters!”

The goblins raised their hands, shining, answering. Right, I had to take care of the baby monsters too. Everyone had to return to Korea together.

“Since Han Yujin was safely rescued, returning home is the top priority.”

Chief Song said firmly, as if warning against further foolishness. Yeah, time to go home.

‘Park Hayul seems okay for now.’

The island was destroyed and its whereabouts unknown, so luckily I didn’t feel like searching for him. He’d contact us from Korea, or not. Returning was better than lingering in China.

“There are no intact airports nearby, so we’ll have to travel overland first.”

  • Kkiang!

Peace, circling near my feet, seemed to understand and grew bigger. Uh, but I’m supposed to ride you now…

  • Growl.

“Thanks, Peace. Um, keep your legs together… you’re too unstable.”

I can’t spread them and ride. I need underwear. And pants if possible.

“Should I go find the kids?”

    Yerim floated up and said.

    “Not alone!”

“I’ll come with you. I’ve finished investigating around here, so I know it well.”

Noah spread his wings and took off. The two left to fetch the kids, while the rest, except Yunyun, organized the situation.

“You didn’t come without an escape route, right?”

If we planned to smash the airport, we’d have made a way out. Could there really be no plan?

“We were thinking of sending you back first.”

Yuhyun lifted me onto Peace’s back. The coat opened naturally, revealing my hot pink cardigan—very embarrassing. I quickly pulled the coat closed again. Fashion disaster. Bare legs, bare feet, boots.

    “Because we have Peace.”

“The others are S-rank, so they’ll manage on their own? Swim across the West Sea?”

“I’d have gone with you. Park Yerim and Hunter Noah have flying skills.”

So what about Seong Hyunjae and Chief Song? Well, they’d manage on their own, especially Seong Hyunjae.

“There are too many kids now, so no. Yunyun, can the goblins cross the sea?”

“They’d fall in after half the distance!”

We’d need to ride a plane or boat.

“Communication doesn’t work here, so we’ll head for Hefei first.”

Seong Hyunjae said. Chief Song spoke next.

“There are military vehicles parked by the lake. Older vehicles probably don’t have immobilizers.”

“You’ve hijacked Chief Song’s car before? You speak like you know it well.”

I joked, but Chief Song’s face darkened slightly. Really?

    “Colombia, maybe? Egypt?”

So Seong Hyunjae’s the culprit. How far did he drag Chief Song?

Anyway, we decided to go to Hefei to get in touch and check the situation. It was suspiciously quiet despite hours passing since the chaos began.

    Soon Yerim and Noah returned.

“Sir! All the kids are safe!”

Yerim shouted, holding a baby pegasus. Next to her, a baby water dragon floated inside a bubble, dipping its fin as if greeting.

  • Growl!

Noah held a baby water buffalo drifting in dreamland. Leafnil fluttered, and baby foxes and eggs were brought by goblins.

  • Rrrr.

Peace growled discontentedly at the sight. Leafnil, about to approach me, was startled and circled midair.

    “Don’t be so harsh, Peace.”

  • Kkuung.

“No matter how many baby monsters come, our Peace is the best.”

Looks like we need at least three cars. Since the lake had melted, Seong Hyunjae helped me, who could barely sit properly, onto Peace. I had to soothe Peace’s bad mood.

Yuhyun had Will’s Leaf, and Chief Song was given a ride by Noah.

The lake area was still quiet without a single sign of life. Not even a guard.

“Alright, everyone, split up and get in. Goblins must be quiet! We have four drivers, right?”

    “Sir, I’m here too!”

“Yerim, there are low-rank goblins and baby monsters, so let’s hold off today.”

She had a license but was nervous.

“Instead, want to try filling the keyhole with water and freezing it? Could that work?”

    “I’ll try.”

If it’s an old car, lock picking might be possible.

“If the pins press the exact spots, the lock should turn.”

Yerim slid tiny ice shards into the car door’s keyhole. Soon, a click, and the door opened.

    “Done! Here!”

“Well done! Of course, normally you shouldn’t do this. Newer cars wouldn’t open like this anyway.”

    “Don’t worry.”

Four ice keys were made. Goblins turned into small fireballs and hopped in. We divided up into cars. Yunyun, with high concealment skill, stood guard outside.

“Don’t leave me alone until we return to Korea.”

I quietly told Yuhyun while he drove, turning off his fear resistance skill.

“Hayul’s skill isn’t gone yet, so it’s dangerous. Without fear resistance, it’s okay.”

“Should we find and kill him?”

“I’m worried about what might happen. If the skill lifts, that’d be good. But it might apply oddly—Hayul’s revenge, or mental shock.”

“Better not touch recklessly. Tell Park Yerim too.”

“Yeah. Once in Korea, you can live without fear resistance normally.”

Only turn it on when meeting high-level hunters. Then I won’t be alone and can catch him if he tries to run, and watch can be placed.

“But we can’t just leave the risk, so we have to find Hayul. Should we put out a warrant?”

“If there’s no proper reason, that’s riskier. Especially if we publicly start looking for Hayul now, they’ll easily suspect your kidnapping.”

    “People probably know underground anyway.”

“The mental skill means they don’t know it still affects you. For now, it’s better if the kidnapping case looks resolved.”

“True. I have to behave for a while too. With so many kids to raise now.”

I glanced at the backseat. Baby monsters were quietly sleeping through the bumps. Peace glared at me with dissatisfaction. She was left to protect the kids in case of emergencies.

    “Come here, Peace.”

  • Kkiwoong.

Peace hopped into the passenger seat as if waiting. I petted her growling body a lot.

“You’re such a good Peace. The goblins said you took good care of them?”

  • Gyarrrung.

“Good girl, a real adult now! All grown up!”

  • Kkeunng.

Peace sharply turned her head and flicked her tail with displeasure. Huh?

    “What’s wrong?”

“She’s a brat who wouldn’t like being treated as an adult, even going intangible.”

“Is that so? Such a spoiled kid.”

Cute one. I wonder if the others are fine at home.

After a long run along the empty road, we finally entered the city. There was a checkpoint by the roadside, but since it was military vehicles, we passed through immediately. Maybe the chaos hadn’t reached Nosando yet.

Seong Hyunjae went to a conspicuous store and made a call. Meanwhile, Yuhyun bought me some clothes. I hadn’t realized how happy I’d be with ordinary clothes. Food, clothing, and shelter really matter.

Soon, people from Sesung appeared. They seemed to have been waiting in Hefei, near Nosando.

They led us to a large villa-like mansion. It mixed Chinese and Western styles, surrounded by tall walls. There were similar places in Hong Kong, but this neighborhood wasn’t familiar. Maybe rented or bought hastily. Must be nice to have money.

    “Not confirmed yet, but…”

    A Sesung informant cautiously began.

“Among military-affiliated hunters across China, some who don’t die have turned undead.”

    Undead, huh. Could it be…

“…Like the soldiers on the island transforming?”

“Those who had contracts in advance seem to have become undead even outside Nosando.”

    “It’s a mess.”

I recalled Hwangrim who took Chohwaun. That guy probably plays a big role. What’s the real plan?

…Could they be trying to overthrow the military from the start? Or have another goal?

“And the Murim Alliance has requested a meeting.”

    “Now?”

“They said they’d send a helicopter this morning.”

So it seemed we could rest at least until morning. The return route included ship transport from Shanghai and flights via intact airports. Helicopter seemed better for airport travel.

Yuhyun and Chief Song left to contact Haeyeon and the police station respectively.

“Ugh, wonder if I can sleep.”

I stretched my arms long. The time difference hit me hard. Still, maybe a short nap would help. I was tired.

“I’m not sleepy at all. Can I go out to the garden?”

    “Don’t climb over the wall.”

“I want to see too! There’s a pond!”

Yunyun eagerly followed Yerim out, but the other goblins all crashed asleep.

“Noah, have you thought about medical school?”

I asked Noah as he lounged on the living room sofa.

    “…Huh?”

“I thought knowing the human body well might help you use skills better. Though you could study separately without med school. You might also ask Sesung Hospital’s doctors for help.”

They’d know the hunter’s body better ★ 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 ★ than regular doctors. Seong Hyunjae stood up and looked at me.

    “Can you spare a moment?”

What could it be? I have a lot to say too.
